Funny you should mention Musica and PnP (only because I worked on one of them prior to being dismissed hehe). Picture it...job comes in, everyone gets excited. Head of tech and head honcho have a closed meeting and come out to announce that rather then the usual opensource its going to be coded in some nasty msoftvbC++visualstudio crap. Head honcho orders a thousand media players (not iPods or even zunes, but something trashier) and while he's showing them off to everyone he's told the designers to finish their part by the end of the week. The designers most of whom think that means its cold and is something to do with a to do list, get to work. Divs of course are straight over their heads, but on those salaries I wouldn't be much interested in work either. There isn't any time put aside for stuff like useability or strategy or how people might prefer to get the music onto iPods rather than other silly players. Naturally the word Mac (the M-word) is never mentioned and Safari...well..hmmm. Ironically the techies all swear by Firefox but somehow the sites still end up with the ubiquitous "Optimised for IE6 at 1024 by 768" strapline. Well at least they got that part right as the sites do tend to fall apart on anything else. (Agency excuse - we advised you that 90% of the world's population use IE6 therefore no need to worry about the other 10% and in any case if we had to get it to work on every browser it would cost you millions (mainly cos we'd have to train our staff to write decent code). So don't go blaming PnP and Musica...they were advised to go down the msoft path by their agencies...and I'm sure they think the results are quite brilliant.

Wow, that Tata source is truly amazing. How does that get allowed on the web? Some manager's teenage kid must be really proud of his work, and R100 richer.

Loving that frontpage design view code mashed up with the Macromedia plug & play javascript, though the actual layout is more reminiscent of something done with the Word "Save as web document" functionality.

Well written and too true. I'm actually researching at the moment for a blog post on some shocking online presences of some large companies in SA.

www.tata.co.za anyone? Hint... check the source, and see what generated this pile.
